Java and Web Services (JaWS) provides innovative computing solutions to a wide variety of University departments and organizations. We are focused on using cutting edge technologies to assist teaching, learning and research on campus. Our team of developers have a rich breadth and depth of experience to draw upon when working on projects.

Many of the projects implemented by JaWS play an integral part of the campus environment. Applications such as MyU Portal, WebCT Vista, UMChat, Moodle and UMWiki provide access to thousands of users to collaborate and learn using the internet. We provide services for interactive web pages, databases, hosting, collaboration, customization and integration solutions. What is JaWS doing for U?

University Plant Information Database Open to Public

The Plant Information Online project is one of the world's largest collections of information and images for botanical and horticultural and plant enthusiasts and scholars, available at plantinfo.umn.edu/arboretum/default.asp .
Java and Web Services recently improved the site to update the look and feel as well as functional improvements including improved searching of the database.

New Improved Bus Pass!

Parking and Transportation Services offers reduced bus passes to the University Community through the website http://buspass.umn.edu. Java and Web Services recently improved the site to provide access to MIFARE which is one of the leading contactless smart card technologies available. More than 20,000 orders are anticipated in the next few weeks.
